Functional Now is a community of people who care deeply about healing, ourselves, our families, and others.

We value an integrative, whole-person approach to health that honors the body as interconnected, resilient, and designed with intention. We believe true wellness is not found in extremes or quick fixes, but in thoughtful support that considers physical health, emotional well-being, lifestyle, and faith together.

At our core, we are people who love Jesus and believe healing matters, both inside and out. Our faith shapes the way we approach wellness with humility, compassion, stewardship of the body, and trust in God’s design. We do not believe we are meant to white-knuckle our health journeys alone, and we see caring for the body as an act of wisdom, not obsession.

Functional Now exists to create space for learning, encouragement, and practical support through a functional, integrative lens. We value education over fear, personalization over protocols, and sustainability over perfection. We are here for those who want to understand their bodies more deeply, support healing at the root, and move forward with peace rather than pressure.

  • Ashley Dishion

    Founder & Provider


    Ashley Dishion, MSN, FNP-BC is a nurse practitioner who cares deeply about helping families feel heard, supported, and truly understood. Her work blends primary care with functional and integrative medicine because she believes health makes the most sense when we look at the whole person. Over the years she has cared for patients in pediatrics, primary care, internal medicine, geriatrics, home health, genetics, and functional medicine, giving her a wide and compassionate view of what people need at every stage of life.

    Ashley has been married to her husband Justin since 2010 and is a mom to two sweet girls, Arabella and Adeline, who keep their home full of joy. Her own story and experience have shaped the way she practices today. She loves helping patients understand their health, find answers, and feel confident in their care. Whether she is supporting hormone balance, guiding root-cause testing, or simply listening well, Ashley’s heart is to walk with each patient toward lasting wellness.

  • Austin Baker

    Provider

    Austin Baker, FNP-BC is a family nurse practitioner who is passionate about caring for the whole person and helping families pursue lasting health. His path into functional and holistic medicine grew from recognizing that conventional care often focuses on symptoms and numbers, rather than root causes and the individual sitting in front of you. After becoming a father, that conviction became deeply personal, leading him to pursue a more integrative approach that supports long-term wellness for both patients and families.

    Austin is a husband and dad who loves time outdoors, whether that means a family walk, a hike, or even a Costco run with his wife and daughters. He is a lifelong sports fan, especially when it comes to LSU, and appreciates simple daily rhythms like a good cup of coffee on a cool morning. Grounded in his faith and inspired by Deuteronomy 6:6–7, Austin is passionate about creating healthy environments for families and modeling stewardship of the body. At Functional Now, he is grateful to practice medicine in a way that aligns with his values and is excited to continue growing as a provider who listens well, thinks deeply, and cares wholeheartedly.

  • Emma Carsey

    Virtual Assistant

    Emma is the virtual assistant at Functional Now and a homeschool mom of four who is walking her own holistic health journey alongside the community she serves. Her interest in functional wellness began shortly after marriage, when she started learning about toxins in everyday products and gradually expanded into a deeper passion for whole-person health. Over the years, motherhood only strengthened that curiosity, and she continues to learn as she is currently studying to become an Integrative Health Practitioner.

    At Functional Now, Emma supports the day-to-day flow of the practice by scheduling patients, answering questions, and helping everything run smoothly behind the scenes. Outside of work, she can usually be found outdoors with her kids, in the kitchen cooking from scratch, or sharing pieces of real life on Instagram. Grounded in faith and guided by the simple foundations of wellness, Emma values daily movement, sunshine, nourishing food, good sleep, and contentment in every season. She is grateful to serve the Functional Now community and considers her role a true blessing.

  • Julie Brock

    Messaging Coordinator

    Julie is the Messaging Coordinator at Functional Now and a mom of three adult children who brings deep care and heart to every patient interaction. Her passion for functional and holistic health comes from a strong belief that true healthcare should address root causes, not just manage symptoms. Over the years, she has seen firsthand how meaningful it can be when care looks at the whole person and supports real, lasting healing.

    Julie has been married to her husband Rick for 41 years and treasures time spent with her children, grandchildren, and her dog, Blue. She enjoys traveling, long walks, and starting each morning grounded in prayer and God’s Word, often with a cup of coffee nearby. Guided by her faith and encouraged by Jeremiah 29:11, Julie finds great joy in serving at Functional Now and witnessing the impact God is making through the practice each day. And while she values wellness, she will be the first to admit she has a soft spot for ice cream and a love for adventure, including zip-lining through the treetops in Fiji.

  • Katie Hetzel

    Patient Services Specialist

    Katie is the Patient Services Specialist at Functional Now and a wife and mom to four girls. Her connection to functional health is deeply personal, as she has experienced firsthand the impact of compassionate, root-cause care through Ashley’s guidance. Seeing her own family heal and experience a better quality of life inspired Katie to join the team and support other families on similar journeys.

    At Functional Now, Katie helps patients feel supported by assisting with recommendations and walking alongside them as they move toward better health. Outside of work, she enjoys time in the garden, experimenting with sourdough in the kitchen, and being with her family. Grounded in her faith and encouraged by Isaiah 49:16, Katie finds joy in witnessing patient wins, both big and small, and considers it a privilege to be part of a practice that brings hope and healing to families.

  • We welcome patients of all ages, starting from newborns.

  • To ensure appointment availability and minimize no-shows, a nonrefundable $75 scheduling fee applies to all non-member visits and initial new member appointments.

  • We are a self-pay practice and do not bill insurance directly. We are happy to provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

    You can use your insurance for lab work by providing your insurance card directly to the lab at the time of your appointment.

  • All testing is self-pay and shipped directly to your home.

    Below are estimated costs for some of our most commonly used tests:

    • MycoMetabolic Panel: $477.00

    • GI-MAP: $327.18

    • DUTCH Complete: $300.00

    • MTHFR Buccal Swab: $65.00

  • Functional medicine visits are always optional. For those who choose to include them, members receive this visit at a discounted rate as part of their care. A standalone functional medicine visit is $500, and membership allows us to offer it at a reduced cost while supporting a whole-person approach to health.

    • Comprehensive Care Coordination
      Ordering, interpreting, and managing testing, along with referrals for labs, imaging, specialists, and hospital services. When performed by outside providers, these services may be billed through your insurance.

    • Comprehensive Annual Physical Exam
      A detailed yearly visit focused on prevention and long-term health.

    This membership model allows us to provide the time, attention, and continuity needed for thoughtful, whole-person care.

  • Outside of the one-time $200 initiation fee, there are no additional membership fees.

  • Members may cancel at any time by notifying our office.

  • We offer a 10% discount for memberships paid in full. Otherwise, memberships are billed month to month.

  • Yes, we take HSA/FSA cards.

  • Yes, our founder is a family nurse practitioner. In Ohio, nurse practitioners are required by law to have a collaborating physician. Our collaborating physician specializes in functional medicine.
