May Wellness, Motherhood & Simple Swaps for a Healthier Home

As the days grow longer and nature comes back to life, May is a beautiful time to be more intentional about our health and daily habits. This month, we're sharing simple ways to reconnect with nature, make thoughtful swaps at home, and celebrate the everyday work of caring for your family.

Happy Mother's Day

Motherhood asks so much of your body. From pregnancy to birth, from postpartum recovery to breastfeeding, from hormone shifts to weight changes, it’s a constant cycle of giving, adjusting, and showing up again.

And beyond the physical, many of you carry the responsibility of your family’s health. You’re the one asking questions, digging deeper, advocating for answers, and refusing to settle for the status quo. That kind of care and persistence changes the generational health of your family.

It takes persistence and sacrifice, and often requires you to show up daily in quiet ways to keep your family well.

We see you, and we’re so proud of you.

Merlin Bird ID App: A Simple Way to Reconnect with Nature

While we’re not the biggest advocates of screens, we do believe there’s a healthy balance, and sometimes technology can actually help us step away from it.

One fun way we’ve been doing this in our own lives is with the Merlin Bird ID app. It listens to bird sounds around you and tells you what you’re hearing in real time, which makes getting outside feel a little more engaging and, honestly, kind of magical.

If you’ve been looking for a simple way to get fresh air or slow down with your kids, this is a sweet place to start.

Ready to try it? Explore the Merlin Bird ID app and discover the birds singing in your own backyard.

The Plastic Detox: Simple Swaps for a Healthier Home

If you haven’t watched The Plastic Detox on Netflix yet, consider this your encouragement to do so. It offers a helpful look at everyday exposures and how small, intentional swaps in the home can reduce overall toxic load.

The goal isn’t to overhaul everything at once, but to start with one or two simple changes and build from there. Over time, those small shifts can make a meaningful impact on your health and your home environment.

If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few simple swaps to consider:

  • Plastic cups → Glass or stainless steel

  • Plastic food storage containers → Glass containers

  • Plastic water bottles → Stainless steel or filtered glass bottles

  • Plastic cutting boards → Wood or bamboo

  • Plastic wrap → Beeswax wrap or silicone covers

When it comes to heating food, avoid microwaving it in plastic containers. Choose microwave-safe glass or another appropriate microwave-safe alternative instead.

Start with one or two changes that feel doable and build from there. It doesn’t have to happen all at once to make a difference!
